Montespecchio Hermitage

The Hermitage is reduced to a ruin. It remains part of the perimeter walls interrupted by slender Lancet Windows with arched roof flattened; the vault, barrel, collapsed; remain traces of pilasters and capitals supporting the arch placed in the middle of the aisle.
It was a major centre of the Augustinians; its construction dates back to the 13th century; in 1449 it was the latest installment of the congregations of Augustinian observance. In the 17th century the precarious condition of the building forced the last religious to relocate
