Torrenieri

Along the ancient via francigena or romea on the right bank of the Asso we can find the town of Torrenieri.
The entire village of Torrenieri belong to the Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino.
The Church, owned by the Abbey of Sant’Antimo from 1216 by Pope Honorius III, was rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries; attached to the Church, there is the sixteenth-century oratory of the Compagnia di San Rocco.
Viale delle Rimembranze
Viale delle Rimembranze is the road that leads to the railway station; It is dedicated to the 27 military torrenieresi  died during the first world war. Along the roadway, there are 27 Linden trees, one for each fallen, and various panels relating to the meaning of the role. The names of those who died during both wars are also listed on a plaque beside the Church.
